After–School CROP Program
2009-2010
CROP
After School Program will begin
Monday, September 14 .
CROP is an exciting child centered program, funded by the New York State Department of Education, and is designed to meet the needs of children and parents during after-school hours. CROP is a comprehensive after-school program with a lot to offer. Children who attend the program will have the opportunity to be involved in academic and homework help, visual and performing arts, recreation and games, health and wellness activities, and community service activities.
*The program runs every day that school is in session in the afternoons.
* We are limited to a total of 75 students to be evenly disbursed between grades K-8. The Department of Education designed the program to benefit children most in need of after-school and summer programming. “Most in need” may include children who receive free and reduced lunch, children from families with a single parent or 2 working parents, and/or children in need of academic support. However, if there is space available, all children can participate without regard to income or family circumstance. If we cannot fulfill our quota per grade level, students will be accepted from a waiting list.
*The program is open to all Kindergarten thru 8 th grade student.
*CROP runs every school day, two hours each day 3:00 till 5:00pm, bus leaving at 5:00pm.
*There are two bus stops for pick-up:
Arkville PO, and the Fleischmanns Ball Park.
There Must be An Adult at the bus stop to pick up your child .
* All children being picked-up at school must be picked-up at 5:00PM
* In order to qualify for the program, students need to be in attendance at least 2 days per week.
* Asnack will be provided for all children every day.
* We have qualified and enthusiastic staff to work with your children including a Site Manager, a Site Coordinator, Activity Leaders, and Student Peer Tutors. There will be one staff member for every ten children, as well as volunteers who work with individuals and groups.
* Each parent or guardian is required to attend an orientation. The MCS CROP orientation will be held Wednesday, September 9 at 6:00PM in the School cafeteria. Our hope and expectation is that families will make every effort to attend orientation as it will be a great opportunity to meet the staff, and hear firsthand about this exciting program.
