Governor's Executive Budget Proposal

Given a 7.2 billion dollar shortfall in the New York State Budget, Governor Paterson implemented a withholding of State Aid from each school district in January. More than $87,000 in State Aid was withheld from Margaretville Central this January. There remains a question if this funding will be fully restored this school year. The withholding or cut in funding emanates from Lottery/Excess Cost/General Aid ($20,455) and 19% of the January installment of STAR ($67,330). If the Governor's Executive Budget is implemented Margaretville Central would be cut more than $222,000 in school aid in school year 2010-11. However, the NYS Legislature would need to approve this proposal.
