On Friday, students in grades 7–12 met for grade-level meetings to review their goals for the year and receive updates on important school policies. Topics included personal electronic devices, attendance expectations, lockers, and pre-signed passes. Students also met with Mrs. Beth Smith to review bus safety and bus procedures.
For students in grades 7–8, meetings also introduced the concept of student leadership groups, a precursor to the high school student senate. These groups were created in response to community and student feedback from the end of last year, emphasizing the need to foster student voice and provide students with a meaningful role in school processes and procedures. The groups will meet regularly with the principal to develop goals aimed at improving the school and enhancing the student experience. This initiative also seeks to increase student activities and programming at earlier grades. Students will select representatives, and Mrs. Holden will be following up with students this week.
Additional assemblies are scheduled for this Monday and Tuesday for students in grades PK–6. Students will meet with Mrs. Carol Johnson to review safety drills and with Mrs. Beth Smith to review bus safety and bus procedures. Students in grades 4–6 will also be introduced to the student leadership groups, fostering early opportunities for student voice and involvement.
