Margaretville Central School District is excited to begin its annual Chromebook distribution for students this week as part of the 1-to-1 Chromebook Program. The program provides students in grades K–12 with district-issued Chromebooks to support classroom learning, educational applications, multimedia projects, and internet research.
Distribution Schedule:
Grades 7–12 → Tuesday, September 9
Grades 4–6 → Wednesday, September 10
Grades 1–3 → Thursday, September 11
Device Use Guidelines:
Grades K–6: Chromebooks will remain in the classroom.
Grades 7–12: Students are responsible for bringing their devices to and from school daily and ensuring they are fully charged.
Students must follow all Chromebook Loan Agreement guidelines, including keeping the protective shell/cover on at all times.
Only students with a signed Chromebook Agreement on file will receive a device. New students may experience a 1–2 day delay while accounts are created.
Program Goals and Expectations:
The Chromebook program is designed to teach students the skills, knowledge, responsibilities, and behaviors necessary for success as responsible digital citizens. The District emphasizes the importance of partnership between students, parents, and staff to ensure safe and responsible use of technology.
Student Responsibilities Include:
Following all acceptable use policies, including keeping Chromebooks in approved cases, respecting others’ privacy, and using devices for school-related purposes only.
Avoiding prohibited behaviors, such as tampering with security seals, sharing accounts, accessing inappropriate websites, or using unauthorized software.
Reporting any technical or security issues immediately to school staff.
Financial Responsibility and Repairs:
Students and parents are responsible for damage or loss. Costs vary based on repair or replacement needs, with a schedule of depreciated values and repair fees outlined in the handbook.
The District provides repair services and may issue temporary loaner devices while repairs are completed. Payment plans may be available for families experiencing financial hardship.
Parental Involvement:
Parents are expected to monitor student use at home and ensure compliance with the Chromebook Agreement. Any restrictions a parent wishes to impose on device use or internet access must be submitted in writing.
G Suite for Education:
All students will receive district G Suite accounts for email, Google Classroom, and collaborative work. Use of G Suite is limited to educational purposes and is subject to monitoring by school officials.
Agreement Requirement:
No student will receive a Chromebook until a signed Chromebook, Internet, and Email Use Agreement is submitted by both the student and parent/guardian. The Chromebook Agreement for 2025–2026 can be reviewed and downloaded here: Chromebook Agreement.
