Students in Mrs. Cure’s Pre-Calculus class helped bring mathematics to life as they led Margaretville’s celebration of Pi Day on Friday, March 13. The day recognized the mathematical constant π (pi)—the number representing the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter—and encouraged students across the school to join in the fun.
One highlight of the celebration was a schoolwide Door Decorating Contest organized by the Pre-Calculus class. Classrooms were invited to decorate their doors with creative Pi-themed designs, featuring math puns, colorful circles, and imaginative artwork. Participating classes had their doors decorated by the end of the school day Friday, with the winning classroom set to receive a special treat next week.
High school students also enjoyed a Pi-eating contest during lunch, adding a lighthearted and delicious twist to the day’s math celebration. Students throughout the building participated in a scavenger hunt of Pi-themed riddles, solving clues hidden in different locations to uncover the secret Pi Day symbol.
Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Cure and her Pre-Calculus class, Pi Day became a fun and engaging event that combined math, creativity, and school spirit throughout the building. 🥧📐
