Gym with attendees for the Academic and Athletic Honors Banquet

Margaretville Central School proudly recognized the achievements of its students during the annual Academic and Athletic Honors Banquet. Students, families, faculty, staff, coaches, Board of Education members, and administrators gathered to celebrate the hard work, dedication, perseverance, and commitment demonstrated by MCS students throughout the school year.

The evening began with academic recognitions, highlighting students who have excelled in their coursework and demonstrated a strong commitment to learning. A special portion of the program recognized junior students who received prestigious scholarship awards from colleges and universities across the region. Many of these awards include scholarship funding upon acceptance and enrollment. Students were honored with awards including the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal Award, the Elmira College Key Award, the Rochester Institute of Technology Science and Math Award, and numerous other college-sponsored recognitions that celebrate academic achievement and future potential.

Students were also recognized for the qualities that contribute to success both in and beyond the classroom, including perseverance through challenges, a willingness to embrace new opportunities, and a commitment to personal growth. Academic certificate recipients were recognized with assistance from Ms. Makenzie Terrell and Mr. Jeremey Marks, who announced the names of the student honorees. Family members and guests had the opportunity to celebrate and capture memorable moments as students were recognized for their accomplishments.

Following the academic awards presentation, attendees enjoyed a dessert intermission before reconvening for the athletic portion of the evening.

The athletic awards program recognized student-athletes for their dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Several special awards were presented, including the Fred Lanzi Award to Naomi Delpratt-DiBenedetto, the Rocky Wilson Award to Joseph DiBenedetto, the Nate Dougherty Memorial Award to Livia Fronckowiak and David Sanchez, the Henry Dietrich Awards to Isabella Andre and Max Siciarz, and the Outstanding Athlete Awards to David Sanchez and Miley Balcom.

In addition to these distinguished honors, numerous student-athletes were recognized with coaching awards and Sectional All-Star selections for their outstanding performances and contributions to their respective teams throughout the year.

As part of the evening's annual recognition of graduating seniors, students received their Big M Awards, presented in commemorative shadow boxes containing their chenille "M" letters and activity pins. These awards recognized years of participation, leadership, and commitment to athletic teams, clubs, and student organizations throughout their high school careers.

Throughout the evening, coaches and athletic leaders expressed their appreciation to the many individuals and organizations whose support contributes to the success of MCS athletics. Special recognition was given to the Margaretville Athletic Booster Club for its ongoing support of student-athletes and athletic programs. The Booster Club also shared information about upcoming summer sports programming and events. Families interested in learning more are encouraged to review the flyer distributed during the banquet.

Success in academics and athletics is made possible through the combined efforts of students, families, teachers, coaches, mentors, advisors, and staff. The Academic and Athletic Honors Banquet served as a meaningful opportunity to celebrate student accomplishments while recognizing the many individuals who support and encourage their success.

Congratulations to all of our honorees on their outstanding achievements. Margaretville Central School is proud of your accomplishments and looks forward to your continued success.
