Margaretville Central School would like to share several upcoming calendar and program updates with families and the community.
The October Board of Education meeting has been moved to Tuesday, October 20.
Prior to the meeting, the Board of Education will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, October 15 at 5:00 PM to review the draft Code of Conduct. The hearing will include discussion of the recommended updates from the Policy Committee regarding the student dress code. A copy of the draft Code of Conduct is available on the school website for families and community members to review. Link to draft Code of Conduct
The 12th Annual Evening of Excellence has also been rescheduled. Originally planned for October 1, the event will now take place on Monday, October 26 at Margaretville Central School. The change was made to help avoid a conflict with fall athletics and provide greater opportunity for student and community participation.
The Evening of Excellence is a special event recognizing students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, perseverance, and dedication. Students honored include those who have achieved Mastery Levels on Grades 3β8 New York State Assessments, earned a place on the Principalβs List for two or more quarters, or demonstrated outstanding performance or resilience on New York State Regents Exams through the Regents Resilience and Top Scorer Awards.
The evening will include a presentation of certificates recognizing studentsβ accomplishments, followed by a dessert reception for students, families, and guests. MCS looks forward to celebrating the hard work and achievements of all of our honorees.
In addition to these calendar updates, the Grades 6β12 After-School Program (ASP) will begin next week. The program will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00β5:00 PM in Study Hall Room 232.
The After-School Program provides students with a structured environment to complete homework, assignments, and other academic work with teacher support. Students will also be able to get a snack and, for students who participate in CROP. All students can use the school transportation drop-offs in Arkville and Fleischmanns.
Students should report directly to Room 232 by 3:00 PM and remain in the After-School Program until 5:00 PM unless they have an approved reason to leave. Cell phones are not permitted during the program, and the ASP is intended to provide a focused environment for academic work rather than socializing. Students in Grades 6β8 must also sign in with CROP before participating.
Teacher and location information for each ASP session will be posted as events on the MCS website calendar.
Families are encouraged to review these updates and mark the new dates on their calendars. We appreciate the continued support of our students, families, and community as we work together to provide opportunities for student success and celebration.
