As part of their sky patterns unit in science, first grade students learned about the changing seasons. Since it's fall, we decided to use nonfiction texts to learn more about leaves, particularly why they change color and fall to the ground. They then went on a nature walk and gathered leaves to use for their projects. Next, they sorted leaves by color, shape and size. Finally, they made their leaf creatures. They are now in the process of writing their first narrative to share their experience! Stay tuned for pictures of the final product.

A few more! Well done boys!

Special thanks to vocal acapella group Windborne for visiting our Varsity Chorus members today. Their visit was sponsored by Music on the Delaware, and students were treated to a performance and workshop on harmony singing.

Happy Custodian Appreciation Day to our tireless workers behind the scenes keeping our school clean and beautiful!

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Delaware county is providing preventative programming to our K-6 classes this year. The curriculum is two fold, the first half addressing bullying and preventing violence while the other half focuses on substance abuse education.
Too Good for Violence and Too Good for Drugs are curriculums developed by the Mendez foundation. It is an evidence based and skill building program that makes a positive impact on students, teachers, parents and the community as a whole.
Programming will begin October 2nd!
Thank you,

Attention Families of MCS Seniors:

The students had great time and learned about respect, love, kindness, and the importance of self!

Great music and positive messages!

Supaman

Some highlights from our assembly this week- Supaman provided a great message and music to our students and staff!

Music Appreciation students were treated to a special experience this afternoon by Noli and Ana of Margaretville's own Oda restaurant. Students connected their interests in learning about Mediterranean music and culture with Balkan foods and personal experiences from owner Noli Alaj.
The food was delicious, the walking weather was perfect, and we are so grateful to have Oda as a part of our village!
Noli, thank you for donating your time, talent, food, and real-life experiences to help our students make meaningful connections and memories!

🎥✨ Our new Broadcast Class is off to an exciting start! This week, students were in Superintendent Osterhoudt’s office practicing interview set-ups—learning everything from lighting to sound to camera work. Each student takes on a role based on their personal interests, and the ultimate goal is for them to be able to run a professional interview from start to finish—completely on their own. We can’t wait to see their first interviews rolling
out--stay tuned ! 👏 #MCSExcellence #StudentVoices

Due to a tornado warning this afternoon, we immediately evacuated students to lower level, interior spaces. Once the warning had expired, we resumed normal activity. Because this event was frightening for some students, counselors are on hand to assist as necessary. Additionally, some siblings were united to provide comfort. Our safety team responded swiftly to help keep our school community safe.

Update - Scout sign-up will be 6-7pm not 6-8pm tonight.

Friendly Reminder that registration for Scouting America will be in the MCS Cafeteria tonight from 6-8pm for any boy or girl in grades k-5.
