From Famous People to Painted Ladies: A Busy Day in Third Grade

The 3rd grade class had a busy and exciting day on June 16, with both their Famous Person Biography Presentations and their butterfly release!

Each year, third-grade students choose a famous person to research, write a speech about, and present to their classmates while dressed as their selected individual. The students did an outstanding job sharing what they learned and bringing history to life.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, it was also the day to release the Painted Lady butterflies they had raised from caterpillars. This experience completed their study of life cycles and metamorphosis. At first, the butterflies seemed reluctant to leave us, but they eventually took flight and began their new lives in the natural world.

It was a wonderful day of learning, growth, and celebration in 3rd grade!

On Monday Mrs. Pacheco's 2nd grade class had their Animal Kingdom presentations. They have been working hard on these projects since January. They went to the library and picked out some books on their animals, they also used trusted Internet resources to find information. In art class they made clay animals. In the classroom they researched, filled out graphic organizers, wrote 6 paragraphs, 2 poems, and an opinion piece. Then they typed it. When typing was finished they made a diorama and a mural! They sure were busy! Families and students came to see the Animal Kingdom and fun was had by all. Mrs. Pacheco, Mrs Williams and Ms. Goodchild are so proud of their 2nd graders!!

Academic/Athletic Banquet

The Seal of Biliteracy committee is happy to announce that four seniors have earned Seals of Biliteracy this year. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to students who show proficiency in English and at least one other foreign language. Students must meet criteria in both English and a foreign language to earn their Seal of Biliteracy. They will receive a seal on their diploma as well as a medallion.

Alani Mendez earned her Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. Olivia Wells earned her Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. Max Siciarz earned his Seal of Biliteracy in both Polish and Spanish. Will Hrazanek earned his Seal of Biliteracy in both Russian and Spanish. Will and Max are the first seniors at Margaretville to earn a Seal in three languages. Congratulations to our seniors. We are very proud of you and your achievements in foreign language!
